Auxiliary Nurses & Midwifery (ANM)

The College strives to provide continued leadership in non-traditional education with an emphasis on educating licensed practical nurses to advance to the associate degree registered nurse level; to offer opportunities to men and women of diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and to those who might otherwise have been excluded from career advancement; to prepare graduates who benefit from their increased level of expertise; and to provide the base for further professional education.

Objective

To prepare an ANM who, under the direction of a registered nurse, is prepared to give basic nursing care at the community level/village with specific skills to fulfill health needs of the community. The faculty believe knowledge acquired by the ANM nurse is basic to all nursing.

Goal

To prepare skilled and effective FHW to achieve the goals of National Rural Health Mission that aims at bringing about dramatic improvements in the health system and health status of the country.

Admission Criteria

i. The minimum age for admission is 17 years on or before 31st Dec. of the year in which admission is sought.
ii. The maximum age for admission shall be 35 years.
iii. The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of 10+2 Class (any Stream) from central board secondary education or a recognized equivalent public examination. Subjects of study must be equivalent to those prescribed by the CBSE for the class XII with minimum 50 %.
iv. Admission is subjected to satisfactory, medical examination report.

Job Prospects

Great emphasis has been laid on enhancing health and well being at the grass roots level by the Govt of India. National Rural Health Mission was created in 2005 to meet people’s health in rural areas. ANM/FHW will play a key role in implementation of the NRHM policies. Career options include Midwife Associates in hospitals, Female Health Workers, Multiple Health Workers in Hospitals, Primary Health Centers, Clinics and similar institutions
