Auxiliary Nurses & Midwifery (ANM)

Introduction: Auxiliary nurses, in essence, are healthcare assistants who provide great help to professional staff to take care and look after the medical needs of patients in hospitals, nursing care facilities or in a community. Once you become an auxiliary nurse, you need to perform basic care duties, working as an important part of a team under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or a physician. A very responsible and noble profession ,which gives you dual opportunities of a lucrative career option with service to the humanity at the same time. In modern day scenario and keeping in view of the acute scarcity of the trained nurses, the role of ANM has become even much crucial which will continue to change and expand in years to come.

Career Objective

The objectives of this programme is to prepare skilled and effective workforce of trained staff nurses who, under the direction of a registered nurse, is prepared to give basic nursing care at the community level/village with specific skills. It is aimed to bring dramatic improvements in health system and health status of the country by large and fulfill health needs of the community in particular.

Job prospects for a trained Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery professional are very bright. Passed out candidate may find a challenging career in hospitals, dispensaries, primary health centers, school health education, community health centers etc. Moreover, on gaining work experience, they may also find a demanding job in educational institutes as supervisor/demonstrators to the students. In India, the Government has created National Rural Health Mission in year 2005 and the role of trained ANM has been pivotal since inception of the project and will be expanding further in times to come.

Following documents are required at the time of admission

i. Self attested copies of certificates and mark sheets of Xth and 10+2 in support of educational qualification and date of birth
ii. Character certificate from the principal of the last attended institution
iii. Five passport sized photographs


Courses Offered

General Nurses & Midwifery (GNM)

Introduction: General Nursing and Midwifery or GNM is a three-year diploma course designed for aspirants who want to pursue a career in clinical nursing. The programme teaches candidates how to care for individuals who are sick or have been injured in order to help them attain full recovery. GNM courses are designed to prepare the students for the clinical approach of handling patients.

Career Objective

Nursing includes promoting health, preventing illness, and caring for ill, disabled, and dying people. Health promotion encourages people to take responsibility for their health. It focuses on the healthy behavior of individuals, families, and the community and the factors that impact their health.
